Every Saturday we dedicate our Saturday Post to someone who does something for the animals. This Saturday we dedicate our post with great love to Monica, the one and only; the woman and the smile that came into our lives a year ago. A woman full of light, love and giving, so much giving! Monica volunteered at our clinic, she cleaned, fed, walked, cared, always with a smile, never complaining or demanding, with modesty and a lot of hard work.
Noba was found abandoned in Ashdod, unable to stand on her feet. She was skin and bones and it seemed she had survived on such poor nutrition that her bones and muscles hadn't developed properly. Arye, a dear wonderful man volunteered to bring Noba to our clinic. She screamed in pain, screams that tore all our hearts.
For many months Monica was Noba's care giver. She never left her side. She insisted on getting her on her feet and wouldn't let go even though Noba was difficult and stubborn. Monica would carry her out, insist that she walk, tempt her with food and treats to crawl over to her, to life herself up and to walk. She would massage her, exercise physical therapy with her – and wouldn't give up. And yes, she accomplished the unbelievable and got her up on her feet. With her smile and love and stubbornness – she saved Noba's legs. 
No one can help but fall in love with Monica. She's the kind of person you meet and fall in love with instantaneously. She's all heart, warmth and kindness. She is funny and fun to be with, so much so that she really got into out hearts and we made sure to keep in touch even when she went back to Spain.
Last week she came back to Israel to take Noba to Spain with her. She knew, like us, that it would take too log for anyone to adopt this perfect dog, all because of a silly limp. She knew, like us, that every minute Noba was spending in the cage was a waste of an amazing dog that had been through so much in her life and there was no reason why she shouldn't have the very best. 
Beloved Monica! I can't stop thinking what a privilege we all had to have met such an incredible person. It feels as if you were always here with us, part of the Let the Animals Live family, as if you just went on holiday to Spain and will be back soon, but I guess the universe sent you to us so that you'd meet and save your Noba. We just fell in love with you on the way. We got the most unbelievable adoption ever so that we'd have the strength for more rescues to come. And you've given us so much strength. You have given us the joy and adrenaline to last a lifetime. 
Although we fell in love with you and you left us – I am happy that we will always be connected for life. We have a shared child in Noba and you'll have to meet the Israeli part of her family on special events 
Love you lots Monica! May life give you rare, precious gifts like the one you have given us by coming into our lives. There's no one like you in the whole world!
