LAL Discourages Elimination of Taxes of Live Animals Destined for International Transport
July 29, 2012

Dear Animal Lovers,
Thanks to your help, dedication and involvement, LAL has succeeded to freeze the legislation that promotes elimination of taxes of live animals destined for international transport. However, an Israeli government official, according to an article that was published last week in “The Marker” daily magazine, has declared that he intends to promote the elimination of these taxes. Eliminating the taxes of live animal transport will encourage animal traders to ship more calves in horrible conditions, to a very long journey overseas. Not only will the animals suffer during a long, exhausting journey, often not provided with any food or water, but when they finally will have arrived to the destination, they will find their death in even more horrible ways.
Often, the calves suffer physically and mentally as well during the journey, and some of the animals even break their limbs, develop infections, and even die. Animal experts are against this form of animal trade, and state that it should be minimized. In addition, although the meat that will be sold to humans might be cheaper, the animals will clearly be treated unfairly, and suffer greatly. Moreover, cheaper prices of meat will encourage meat consumption, which is related to humans’ ailments such as elevated cholesterol, obesity and more.
We, at LAL, promote fair and humane treatment of animals. We do not encourage any form of animals’ suffering and abuse. Please join our struggle, and write to the Israeli Prime Minister at http://www.facebook.com/Netanyahu or pmo.heb@it.pmo.gov.il, or fax to 972-2-5664838.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Eti Altman

Yes I agree, farm animals should not be exported in unsuitable conditions without food or water and to be abused only to be killed inhumanely. Long journeys has got to be stopped for the sake of our farm animals and factory farming stopped as is here mostly in the UK. I support Compassion for Animal Farming here in the UK and so it should be in all parts of the World. We are still living in the dark ages, I seriously cannot believe how cruel men are to animals the way they are killed in Egypt and other countries and I have no time for pathetic killing of rituals in animals suffering or halal for religion purpose. Animals were not meant to die for these purposes, after all they are Gods creatures.
